820m down to 150m

Depart Pokhara after breakfast and follow the winding Prithvi Highway through terraced foothills and river valleys. At Dumre, turn uphill towards the hilltop gem of Bandipur. Float silently along the Rapti River in a traditional wooden canoe to spot fish-eating gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles, kingfishers, and deer grazing the banks. Join an expert naturalist for a guided nature walk into the sal forest, learning to interpret animal tracks and flora. In the afternoon, board an open 4x4 jeep safari into deep grasslands in search of the greater one-horned rhinoceros, sloth bears, monkeys, and wild elephants. Leave the humid lowlands after breakfast and commence a spectacular climb into the cool Palpa hills along the serpentine Siddhartha Highway. The rapid elevation gain brings pine breezes and sweeping valley vistas. An early midday arrival in Tansen provides ample time to wander the steep cobbled lanes of the old bazaar, Palpa Durbar museum, and traditional brass-pot coppersmith workshops. Later, ride up to Srinagar Hill for a magnificent panoramic sunset over the hills, followed by an authentic dinner featuring local Palpali delicacies like chukauni.

Catch first light over the mist-filled valleys from Srinagar Hill before joining the northern mountain highway to Pokhara. The road rolls through Ramdi, Waling, and Syangja, undulating endlessly along green river gorges. Smooth asphalt, rhythmic hairpin bends, and minimal commercial traffic make this one of the most rewarding paved riding days of the tour. Stop for hilltop tea and local snacks in Waling before descending back into the Pokhara basin. Check back into your Lakeside hotel for a warm shower and an easy evening beside the water.

Sleep in, enjoy espresso at Lakeside cafés, take a wooden rowboat across Phewa Lake, or indulge in a sports massage. In the afternoon, the mechanical crew conducts a comprehensive multi-point inspection of every motorcycle — servicing chains, testing brakes, adjusting suspensions, and checking air filters for high altitude. In the evening, an essential expedition briefing covers cold-weather mountain conditions, gravel riding techniques, and altitude safety for Lower Mustang.

At Beni, top up fuel tanks and enter the off-road frontier where tarmac yields to gravel, hard-packed earth, rock shelves, and occasional mountain stream crossings. Ride through the deepest river gorge on Earth, flanked by Annapurna I (8,091m) and Dhaulagiri (8,167m). Pass thunderous Rupse Falls and steaming Tatopani hot springs to reach Kalopani for an evening under snowcapped giants.

Begin the winding ascent to the sacred temple of Muktinath at 3,800m, revered by Hindus and Buddhists alike. Walk among the 108 brass waterspouts and witness the natural earth-gas flame.
